The history of Kos , 2500 years of architecture and history

KOS  was called the “Islandof the Happy People ” in antiquity and it is an island rich in culture and history. At the same time, it preserves its tradition and invests in the future with high-quality hospitality facilities. Kos is the meeting point of ancient Eastern civilizations, and its center is Greek, Western and Eastern and its center is literally, an external source archaeological museum with excellent samples of civilizations that went from island and left their mark.

Curiosities of the Knights’ Castle : the impressive monument of Venetian rule is one of the four castles on the island and is a typical example of defensive fortification with double wall and a moat. The medieval surrounding the part of the ancient wall city and is still visible in some parts of the harbour and the ancient agora is also very impressive. The Archaeological Museum is very important for the study of the history of the island as prehistoric discoveries, Hellenistic and classical sculptures.




You will also find the nautical museum, with interesting exhibitions of the history and cultural tradition of the island.  You will also like to visit Casa Romana, a Roman mansion in the style of the ancient Roman villa, built on the ruins of an old Hellenistic house. An impressive building with three “artia” (course), mosaics with presentations of nature and the typical technique of the “Rhodian Gallery” with columns of Ionian style.
Be sure to visit the Baths or Hot Baths, circular baths from the 3rd or 4th century BC that includes parts of the ancient ramparts, with inscriptions on the mosaics.

Around the beautiful KEFALOS  that was once the capital of Kos you can discover many about the history and culture of Kos and the DODEKANISOS. as the area is full of beautiful views. He also do some wonderful swims in the beautiful beaches and small coves of Kefalos.
